Warehouse Edit 2

Kyle Lafleur made a new edit featuring some new warehouse riding with a new obstacle.

Throwback Thursday

This week I have some really great throwback material. After some pre-winter cleaning at Joe Mamma’s, I stumbled upon these great photos.

The first photo dates back to the Freuban contest held at the old Ottawa Skate Park. To all you ultra new school kids, take a look at what we used to get to ride. Many of the ramps in the photo were constructed only a night or two before the contest too. You can also notice the abundance of 26″ wheels, as this was right around the peak of the whole ‘urban mountain biking’ scene in Ottawa.

Throwback Thursday

This week I have some serious throwback photos from Real Dad himself, Roland Labrecque, that throws back to a few years ago, and some that throw back even further.

Armistice Day

Hi all,

I apologize for the tardyness of this post because it was supposed to be posted last Wednesday.  Either way, as your European correspondent I feel that it is my duty to tell you of my adventure to the Vimy Ridge monument in Vimy France that I did on Rememberance Day.  This small piece of Canadian territory in northern France is the site of one of Canada’s most important strategic offensives of the First World War.  You can all go to Wikipedia and get a detailed description of the event, but I’ll give you a short run down.

Warehouse Edit

Kyle Lafleur made and posted this edit from this past weekend of himself, Jeff Bedard, and Marc Boudreau riding the warehouse in its present state.

Awzum Park

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while now. Back in September Rich Redmond, Kyle Lafleur, and I took a day trip to ride the Madoc park. On the way back, driving down Highway 7, we found the most awzum park that we have come across yet. Rich shot a few photos, so click below to see more of what this utopia is like.

Throwback Thursday

Here is another classic gem. Edmonton’s finest chimney cleaner, Ted Bambrick, with a tailwhip out of the Kanata Skatepark. Photo shot by Dave McCaig some time before the pre-rainbow bike era of Ted.

Farewell Dave

Dave McCaig doing it for Team Jofa

Our good friend and long time Capital BMX OG, David McCaig, is setting sail for London, England tomorrow. Dave’s been back in the country after long travels for roughly 6 months, and is now headed out again for good to foreign lands. Best of luck with everything in England Dave, it was great having you back.

Where The Monks Brew Best

Hey Friends!

Yeah, yeah I know it’s been a long time and I haven’t been diligent with any updates (at all) for most of you, about my current situation.  That situation being, I’m in Belgium!  It is the land of beer (Abbey and Trappist especially), loose weed laws and looser women.  I arrived at the beginning of September, somehow found a place to live after about a week, but had to wait another week for it to be rennovated.  Eventually I settled down and was able to relax, travel and really get into the BMX scene here.

Leaner into the deep end of the bowl. Gargle ‘em Boudreau!
