Bro-Cam Check – Brandon Lalonde
Posted by Prashant - 19/01/09 at 11:01:35 am
Brandon’s camera with additional lens.
After the last camera check with Chris Chitaroni, I thought it would be interesting to get some insight on a very different set up. Not everyone needs very professional camera equipment to enjoy the filming/editing process. Brandon Lalonde sent through some photos and words about his bro-cam set up that you can check by clicking below.

BMX is Serious Business
Posted by G-rant - 17/01/09 at 06:01:54 amHello all,
Yes, I’m still on the other side of the Atlantic but somehow I still manage to check the same BMX sites every day. Anyways, as most of you will surely know by now, there is a new law being passed in the United States that will force lead testing on all objects classified as toys. This includes all bicycles with wheels under 24 inches. You may say, “I’m in Canada, I’ll be fine.” Well I hope not! Because you all know that the vast majority of BMX companies are from the US and with such a law, many will be forced to shut down as costs go through the roof. Further, any ‘toys’ that do not meet the requirements will not be exported – so it does affect you directly. Now what I suggest we do is sign this petition (the link is below) to exclude BMXs from the classification of toys under CSPC regulation. It is not that the regulation is illintentioned, but it is far to ambiguous and will damage the industry, likely to irreparable levels. Below there is a link to several interviews conducted by The Come Up’s Kurt that I feel are important for an understanding on the issue. This is partly stolen from Dig and partly from TCU, but it’s very important. BMX is SERIOUS BUSINESS.
Stay Classy Ottawa,
Andrew
Leland Nightingale – Top 3’s
Posted by Prashant - 16/01/09 at 11:01:42 amLeland Nightingale is practically the unofficial ambassador of Toronto within BMX. Anytime I go to Toronto, whether it’s for bike riding or not, I make sure I hit up Leland. He’s entertained and hosted countless travelers, shared spots, shared his food, is always willing to get loose when he takes you out, and is an unapologetic bike nerd (much like myself). If you know him, you know how rad of a guy he is, and if you don’t, click below to get some insight on some of Leland’s favorite things about TO and otherwise.

Throwback Thursday
Posted by Prashant - 01/01/09 at 04:01:26 pmWhat better way to start off a new year then with reflecting on photos from past years. Here are a couple more Dave McCaig gems of Ted Bambrick boosting the old OSP mini ramp (complete with ‘foam pit’ in the background).

Tabletop fit for a furnace cleaner.
