Insight – Liam Mulrooney

Liam – no footer over the UAB box jump

In a continued series of interviews conducted by Rich Redmond, I wanted to shine a spotlight on one of the hardest working riders in Montreal, Liam Mulrooney. Liam is the owner of the only bicycle specific park in the country, Ugly Ass Bikepark. After UAB materiliazed, and Liam and poured himself in to the opening, running, and growing the park, I realized how much he must love BMX to keep his doors open and provide a place for riders all over Quebec (and Eastern Ontario) to come to year round. Knowing that I am no expert on Liam, I asked Jeremy Deme to write an intro to the interview, which would make this the intro to the intro (kind of redundant, isn’t it?). Nevertheless, click below to read about Montreal’s Liam Mulrooney.

Yo Sick – Volume 2

Who said that print is dead, because I just finished a new issue of my side project zine, Yo Sick.  It’s a small, black and white, pocket sized, 6 page zine of BMX and other random stuff that either wasn’t fit for the web, or I decided to save it for the zine.  In it you can expect to find low resolution scans of mediocre photos, inside jokes, illustrations, triangles, Audrey Hepburn, secret spots and fun.  What you can expect to not find in it are contest reports, rider bios, product reviews, directions to secret spots, quality, colour, and good photography.

You can get copies of it from me directly (if you live outside of Ottawa, just send me an email and I can mail you one), and I should have a pile of them available at Joe Mamma’s later this week.  I hope you like it.

Trail Revival

The other night there was an impromptu trail jam with a few Montreal riders who were in town. Chris Chitaroni snapped a few great photos throughout the evening that you can check out in full by clicking below.

Pool Season – Volume 2

If you remember the last Pool Season post that Chris Chitaroni wrote, you would recall the unquenchable thirst lately to ride more pools. When conversing with each other, we realized we both had/have a hard time explaining the desire to ride spots like this to people outside of BMX. Nevertheless, Chris pulled together a short little video of some of the riding at the newly discovered pool that one afternoon (nothing crazy, but hopefully it conveys the enthusiasm for it). Click the link below to read Chris’ story from that day and our run in with the police, as well as a few photos from the both of us.

Random Photos – Kyle Lafleur Edition

Kyle Lafleur is always snapping photos, and sometimes they make there way to me. He sent over a bunch recently of stuff he’s ridden, as well as other nonsense from the 39 C house. Check them all out in full after the link below.

Brose Farm Trails

Josh Brose’s (aka 540 cab) parents have a plot of land outside of Ottawa in Cobden and he’s had a six pack he built out there. He says he’s planning to throw a small jam out that way once they are ready, and recently posted up this short edit from last fall that his brother made.

Pool Season

A handful of riders have been taking advantage of the season and hitting up as many pools as they can before the summer season hits, and they fill up with water. Chris Chitaroni shot a handful of great photos while on a pool mission with Jorden, Rich, and Jeff, wrote some words of pool inspiration and sent them over. Click below to check out it all out in full.
