Re-Session Coverage

Ten Pack Re-Session Tour Eastern Canada Stops from Presence Bmx on Vimeo.

This has probably already been passed around the BMX inter-web like a hot potato, but it’s too good of a video to pass up. The eastern Canadian portion of the Re-Session Tour ended almost two weeks ago and Jeremy Deme put together this edit of the stops in Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa.  Check it out and you will even see some local faces in it, as well as the 39C mini ramp.  For more coverage of the tour you can check out amazing photos from David Lang (1, 2, 3) and Harley Haskett.

Craz-E-Canada Day

Ben K. with a double whip at last years demos.

If you are around downtown tomorrow for Canada Day be sure to check out the Craz-E-Crew demos going on in front of Top of the World on Rideau Street Street and the demos in front of parliament hill. Ben Kauffman, Prasheel Gopal, as well as the usual Craz-E-Crew guest riders will be riding all day, weather permitting, so come and check it out if the rain holds off.

Man Down

Tuesday afternoon, while on day 2 of a road trip to Sudbury, Chris “Ginger” Bryan took one of the worst spills I’ve ever seen. I’ll leave the details out, but he went straight to his face. I know word has spread fast, and many people might be wondering and worrying about his condition. Chris fractured 3 parts of his face/skull and suffered initially from bleeding on the brain. Apparently the bleeding has stopped and will be fine, but he’s still waiting on word from the plastic surgeon to see if he can graft a soul into his Ginger body.

But seriously, what this goes to show is that we should all be wearing helmets more often. Chris wasn’t doing anything hard, he never expected to take a spill like that… but it happened, and although it looks like everything is going to be okay it was still dangerously close to being a life altering injury. I’ve never left a friend behind on a road trip before, and I hope it never has to happen again. I for one will be wearing my helmet from now on.

Everyone in Ottawa is wishing you luck buddy, get well soon!

Jeff Bedard Chronicles – Volume 3

After a short hiatus, we are back with another Jeff Bedard story. This one is much more recent, as it took place at this year’s ICC Jam only a few weeks ago. The story I heard was that Jeff spent most of the day drunk at most spots, smashed his face on the ground, passed out at a spot, then everyone else took off to keep riding. He ended up having an ambulance called and went to the hospital. I’m sure there’s more to the story then that, but I’ll let rumour and hearsay carry it forward from this point. Our friend Harley shot this quick video of Jeff drunk at one of the jam spots, trying to fight with Cory Beal. It doesn’t get more Jeff Bedard than this.

(Jay Leroux – barspin at Aylmer trails)

A few weeks back we were riding the trails, and by ‘we’ I mean that everyone else was and I was getting loose, heckling people, and trying to take a few photos. I took to referring to Jay Leroux as TJ Lavin that day and making references to old KOD contests. I don’t think the nickname really stuck or carried on, but I was satisfied when my roll came back from processing and my TJ photo came out looking like this.

Bicycle Film Festival

This is a bit of a stretch of Ottawa news, but promotion for the New York Bicycle Film Festival is circulating around the internet, and it features Ottawa’s own Alex Poirier (the first letter ‘C’ – black flatland bike) and Prasheel Gopal (the second letter ‘C’ – white flatland bike, pink shirt), seen here in the poster. You can also see Prasheel in the video they made along with it after you click below.

Re-Session Tour

Just a reminder to anyone who’s been under a rock the last few weeks that this Saturday the 13th is the Macneil team + extended Ten Pack Team Jam at Cenrepointe Skatepark. Supposed to start at 1, and following it there will be the Quit Wasting My Film video premiere at Marshy’s (bar and grill next to the park). Everyone should make it out to what will be a fun event.

Landozine Blogging

You may have noticed the addition of posts on the front page from Landozine’s Chris Chitaroni. Chris will be helping to update the site with his own unique writing style, selection of photos, videos, and whatever else he wants. This does not mean the end of Landozine by any means, it just means more frequent updates and coverage over here, with bigger projects of his reserved for the Landozine title. This also gives me an excuse to post this photo of Chris doing a no-hander.

D.I.Y – Aylmer Trails

Rich Red wishing he was Joe Rich over the last set.

Being on the verge of summer, having a set of trails to spend days and evenings in the shade is a treat. Not having to deal with runaway boards, bog life kids and line snakes at the skatepark, the only worry you have is that a deer might run out in front of your line (and I’m not talking about Gordy). The Aylmer trails are in full swing right now! Don’t get me wrong, there is still tonnes of work to be done, and Rich, Campbell and the Cockmaster will be the first to remind you of that. But the lines are running, the sessions are happening and things will surely only get better from here. But make sure you’re cleaning up your garbage, or Rich might knock you out with his aerial maneuvers!

Quit Wasting My Film Video Premiere.

I’ve just got everything worked out for the Quit Wasting my Film video premiere.

For anyone who isn’t in the loop about this, I spent last summer filming a movie with an old super 8mm camera. Its all done on film, looks awesome and has some great riding in it. Its mostly local guys, with lots of footage from the trip we took to England as well as a bit from Sweden too.

WHERE: Marshy’s BBQ and Grill, right across the street from Centrepoint skatepark.
WHEN: Saturday June 13th @ 7pm, right after the macneil demo day.
HOW MUCH: 5$ cover, sorry guys, but the film was expensive to buy.

I will have DVDs there for you guys to buy. They will be 10$ per copy.
After the video we’ll be re-playing Hate This for everyone to get drunk to and hate on.
Hope to see you all there.
