Throwback Thursday

For this installment of Throwback Thursday, I bring you a photo of Kyle Lafleur from several years ago. twisting a pretty decent one footed x-up over a barely existent box-jump at our old home park, Ryan Heights in Sudbury. For anyone who never got a chance to ride this park, it was in the middle of a super sketchy neighbourhood, and was totally run by volunteers. This photo predates Kyle’s learning of barspins, which is pretty much the only trick he ever does now. He used to be pretty good.

Thats what you get for leaving your ramp in the Home Depot Parking lot…

So of all the places to leave their ramp when they came to town, GT bikes left theirs in the home depot parking lot right across from 39c. I get a call last night around 10:30, right as I’m getting home, Rich is super excited about having found a giant show quarterpipe sitting perfectly under a giant light at Home Depot. Sure enough we made some calls, organized a crew and went and had ourselves a fun little session.

Sudbury Trails – Jay Leroux

The other day Chris posted a story and photos of a trails trip he took to Sudbury last month. The other week Rich Redmond, Jorden Guth, and Jay Leroux took a short day trip there. Jay was excited because it was the first time he went upside down (over a big step up at that). Click below to check out a small collection of photos of Jay that Rich took.

Throwback Thursday: The Cockmaster Edition

For this Thursday’s throwback, I dug through some old photos (physically, not digitally) to try and give you all an idea of where the Cockmaster came from. Where he learned the cock wielding skills he now flaunts.

Pictured above is Jeff in his dad’s ruthlessly green truck back in like 2001. I believe this photo was taken outside a wal-mart. I’m not really sure what we were doing there… but I’m pretty sure he fondled a mannequin in the store…

Sudbury Trails Spot Check

With more hype than ever surrounding these mystical beasts, I figured I would do a little writing about a beautiful set of trails over yonder in the northern part of our province. Only 5 hours from Ottawa lies some of the smoothest running trails around. Rich, Ginger and I made a trip to ride them last month, and ironically Chris ended up killing himself on a handrail before he had a chance to really slam on the dirt at all. After Ginger’s accident I kind of forgot to upload any of the good pictures we got riding the trails that weekend so here they are. Rich has since gone back with Jay and Jorden, and they’re apparently not getting any less awesome.

Throwback Thursday

Its been a while since Prashant has thrown up a throw back, so I took it upon myself to give you all a hot blast of steamy nostalgia; right across the nose. This is a photo that I took a little over 4 years ago at CP, right after it was first built. I came to Ottawa from Sudbury to visit, and sample the legendary new concrete park that was built here. Rich was kind of a big deal back then, before he got old. I think he was like 28 or 29 in this picture. A spring chicken. He threw these clownside whips over the hip to the amazement of everyone present. Note the lack of graffiti….

Prasheel Gopal is currently in the Middle East in the country of Oman for the next month performing shows with the rest of the Craz-E-Crew. Back in June, while just north of Toronto, we were bored in our hotel, so he called me to the parking lot to take a couple of quick photos of him riding flatland. Click below check out an actual riding shot.

Ottawa to Van: A 39C Odyssey – Part 3

In what seems to feel like an almost infinite amount of content that came from 39C’s Vancouver road trip, we have a third installment of photos. While on the Vancouver portion of their trip, the weary travelers all stayed with the hospitable Adam McKay who shot a bunch of fantastic photos of and with the guys. Click the link below to check them all out.

Ottawa to Van: A 39C Odyssey – Part 2

Not only did select members of 39C (i.e. Marc Boudreau) send me a huge helping of photos from their Vancouver trip that I posted just yesterday, but Kyle Lafleur also sent me a story detailing their whole trip as well as a big handful of new photos. Click below to read the whole story and check out all of Kyle’s photos.

Ottawa to Van: A 39C Odyssey

The tenants of Ottawa’s most notorious BMX house (39C Deerfield), Jeff Bedard, Marc Boudreau, Jamie Lawlor, Kyle Lafleur, and special guests Leland Nightingale from Toronto and Andrew Gobbo from Hamilton, took a two week driving journey from Ottawa to Vancouver and back. In between heavy sessions of what I can only imagine consisted of ci-gar smoking, beer drinking, and artery clogging food consumption, they managed to ride a huge assortment of new stuff, see sites, meet new riders, all the while Marc snapped photos along the way. He sent along a big assortment of different stuff from their trip that you can check out in full by clicking below.
