Presence Premiere Photos

Albert tried to say a few words before the video started.

Last week a bunch of us drove to Montreal for the Premiere of Jeremy Deme’s newest Presence video, You Know Time It Is. Everyone rode UAB during the day, stuffed our faces with poutine (or poutine soup if you were unlucky), and then headed to the Green Room for the video and party. What was expected to be a short night of partying evolved in to an all night affair, and Andrew Grant was the trooper and drove us home long after the bar closed, and everyone got to make a late night stop at Belle De Provence. I slacked on shooting any worthwhile photos of any riding, but here’s a few party photos that you can check out after the link below.

A Lesson In Failure

There is nothing quite like giving something your all and completely falling on your face. You know, like when you spend all year training really hard to win the big track and field meet only to show up and get murdered by all the kenyan kids with 6 foot long legs, or when you go into the exam and totally flunk it because you stayed up all night studying super hard for it, or when you ask out that super pretty girl and she turns out that you’re not nearly attractive enough. Failure is like fine wine; it’s bitter and if you sample enough of it eventually you get addicted.

Guthpick

I thought I would start off the year with a photo post. I used this photo in the latest issue of Yo, Sick Zine, but it’s also nice to see it in colour, greater resolution, and with a bit of an explanation.

During October’s contest at the Taz in Montreal, a handful of other riders rode the upstairs miniramp, and Jorden Guth was doing these wild airs to harsh toothpick slams. It was loud and scary, especially with the way he dangles his toothpicks. Even with this photo getting scanned crooked, I still liked it because you can see the rest of the park in the background with a contest taking place, and Jorden’s total disregard for anything else happening, except scaring himself with something dangerous. That seems to be a common thing for him.
