Throwback Thursday

Chris Silva – LandoZine ‘05 from iccsilva on Vimeo.
A drastic jump of about 20 years from last week’s Throwback Thursday, but this is the ender part from Landozine’s 2005 release Illusion of Man, of our friend Chris Silva. Footage from back in his days of Hyper Bikes and backyard ramps.
Also in Chris Silva news, if you haven’t heard already, he has started his own small clothing brand titled Sour Fever. A small, grass roots effort, where each shirt is hand screened by Chris himself in Toronto.

Kyle Lafleur sent through a random photo and said this:
The last two days were super nice, we put in a bit of work and got the little mini ramps running.
Spring is almost here.
Reminder: Orleans FUNdraiser Jam @ UAB
Posted by Prashant - 18/02/10 at 11:02:35 pm
Just another post to act as a reminder to everyone to do everything they can to make it to UAB this Sunday the 21st for the Orleans FUNdraiser Jam Tommy Hains is throwing. Should be lots of fun and prizes for everyone. There’s been tons of notice for this event, so all excuses are going to be pretty poor for non attendance. Click below to see the post with all the jam details.
Throwback Thursday

I haven’t posted a Throwback Thursday piece in a while, but this should more than make up for it. Frank Krul is an Ottawa rider from way back in the day. About 8 or 9 years ago Frank got back in to riding (after getting his hands on Jay Miron’s first run custom complete Macneil bike through an airport screwup) and back in to the modern day scene here in Ottawa. He has since moved to Halifax, but recently posted a bunch of great old school photos to Facebook, and he gave me permission to post a bunch of them. He’s still has lots, so expect some more to come down the line. You can read his statement and then click below to check out the rest of the photos.
A huge part of my life was filled in by skating in the 70s/80s and and BMXing in the 80s/90s. From doing shows for Pepsi/Frito lay to doing a tour from Ontario to PEI with Boardwalk, meeting pros like Tony Hawk, riding with Dave Mirra before any of the Xgames, and practically living at Kona skatepark when I could…I present the following look into my past.

Yo Sick Zine 5 Release Party/Art Show
Posted by Prashant - 09/02/10 at 11:02:41 pmThe newest issue of Yo Sick Zine is almost done and being duplicated. To celebrate I’m having a party and art show in my apartment. It’s got some BMX and lots of other random stuff in it. Come by throughout the night, or stay and party the whole time. Grab a zine, a pin, bring some disposable cash and buy something to hang up in your home, or just hang out and drink and listen to music.
*UPDATED – click below for more information and photos*

forgive the typos in the flyer, a casualty of carelessly working with pen and paper

Hawaii Did I Ever Come Home?
Posted by Landozine - 07/02/10 at 04:02:34 am
Melanie coming out from one last shred before sunset
I just got home from a week long vacation in Honolulu. Let me tell you, going from -20 to +20 in a matter of hours is incredible. Stepping off that plane I was immersed in a very strange, yet entirely appealing culture. I’ve never really enjoyed the USA very much, they tend to have their heads up their asses and their noses in everyone’s business. Hawaii didn’t strike me that way at all, and I’m left to assume that this is a result of their geographic isolation and polynesian influence.

Orleans FUNdraiser Jam at UAB
Posted by Prashant - 03/02/10 at 09:02:21 pm
Tommy Hains sent this flier through for a FUNdraiser Jam he is throwing at UAB in Montreal for, get this, raising funds towards the Orleans box jump project. He wanted to get the word out as early as possible, so that more people can get the time off from work and organize rides to come (eyes looking at you East End kids). Everyone should try make it out to this event. It’s a little tough to read some of the print on the flier when I had to shrink it to fit, but here’s the details:
UAB in Montreal (1935 Avenue de L’Eglise)
Sunday, February 21st
1pm – 9pm
$10 entry – half goes straight towards the box jump fund
Prizes from Joe Mamma and UAB
