Brandon’s camera with additional lens.
After the last camera check with Chris Chitaroni, I thought it would be interesting to get some insight on a very different set up. Not everyone needs very professional camera equipment to enjoy the filming/editing process. Brandon Lalonde sent through some photos and words about his bro-cam set up that you can check by clicking below.
Like most people who check this website (at least i hope most people), I enjoy watching BMX videos. So naturally after watching so many, I decided I would try to make my own. As far as cinematographers go, I’d definitely consider myself below amateur. But I guess that is the case for most camera virgins. I took it upon myself to buy something inexpensive, that would get the job done.
I ended up buying a small, bottom of the line Sony camcorder. Perfect for my needs… (basically internet edits). It came with a mini tripod and a bag. The whole package ran me about 500$. The only other things i really invested in were a fisheye lens (100$), and a standard tripod. Keep in mind this was about 4 years ago. These days you can get a much higher quality (hard drive HD) setup for the same price or less. That’s basically it, nothing too crazy, but it’s all someone needs to be able to make descent videos. If you are thinking of getting into filming, a simple setup like this is all you need. Filming yourself and your friends riding is not only fun, but also motivating.

1 chip camera for all your web edit needs.
Here are some edits i’ve done over the years using my camera:
Madoc Roadtrip
Solo Session
