Jeff Bedard Chronicles – Volume 3
Posted by Prashant - 23/06/09 at 06:06:00 pmAfter a short hiatus, we are back with another Jeff Bedard story. This one is much more recent, as it took place at this year’s ICC Jam only a few weeks ago. The story I heard was that Jeff spent most of the day drunk at most spots, smashed his face on the ground, passed out at a spot, then everyone else took off to keep riding. He ended up having an ambulance called and went to the hospital. I’m sure there’s more to the story then that, but I’ll let rumour and hearsay carry it forward from this point. Our friend Harley shot this quick video of Jeff drunk at one of the jam spots, trying to fight with Cory Beal. It doesn’t get more Jeff Bedard than this.
Insight – Liam Mulrooney

Liam – no footer over the UAB box jump
In a continued series of interviews conducted by Rich Redmond, I wanted to shine a spotlight on one of the hardest working riders in Montreal, Liam Mulrooney. Liam is the owner of the only bicycle specific park in the country, Ugly Ass Bikepark. After UAB materiliazed, and Liam and poured himself in to the opening, running, and growing the park, I realized how much he must love BMX to keep his doors open and provide a place for riders all over Quebec (and Eastern Ontario) to come to year round. Knowing that I am no expert on Liam, I asked Jeremy Deme to write an intro to the interview, which would make this the intro to the intro (kind of redundant, isn’t it?). Nevertheless, click below to read about Montreal’s Liam Mulrooney.

Pool Season – Volume 2
Posted by Prashant - 21/05/09 at 05:05:14 pmIf you remember the last Pool Season post that Chris Chitaroni wrote, you would recall the unquenchable thirst lately to ride more pools. When conversing with each other, we realized we both had/have a hard time explaining the desire to ride spots like this to people outside of BMX. Nevertheless, Chris pulled together a short little video of some of the riding at the newly discovered pool that one afternoon (nothing crazy, but hopefully it conveys the enthusiasm for it). Click the link below to read Chris’ story from that day and our run in with the police, as well as a few photos from the both of us.

Pool Season
Posted by Prashant - 13/05/09 at 08:05:09 pmA handful of riders have been taking advantage of the season and hitting up as many pools as they can before the summer season hits, and they fill up with water. Chris Chitaroni shot a handful of great photos while on a pool mission with Jorden, Rich, and Jeff, wrote some words of pool inspiration and sent them over. Click below to check out it all out in full.

Originally with the release of Hate This, there was supposed to be a print booklet with interviews with the main lineup riders, and other odds and ends that Rich Redmond wanted to include. Unfortunately, due to time and constraints, it never materialized, but Rich still wanted to share some of the ones that he had completed. Click below to read his interview with Jorden Guth.

Harley Haskett Photography – Favorite Five

portrait by Nuno Oliveira
Harley Haskett is a name familiar to some. He’s a behind-the-scenes worker in the Canadian BMX industry, making all sorts of things happen with and is responsible for much of Ten Pack East. He’s gotten the new Ten Pack Distribution site up and running, updates the site, and handles much of the team stuff and blog. Harley was out this way in Ottawa last summer for the Ten Pack Am Contest at CP, and after that was stoked on Ottawa, especially the quarry. He’s an avid photographer with a unique and candid style, so I asked him to send through five of his favorite photos, and he chose a specific theme for them. Click the link below to check them out, and hear what Harley has to say.

Chad Shackleford is a name that is synonymous with video production in BMX. He’s worked on his own creative projects with the Shine and Shook video series, and done video work for numerous other companies and brands in BMX such as Odyssey, Hoffman, Micreation, System Cycle, Local Exposure Tour, and many others. By a strange twist of fate, we got in touch with Chad, and Rich Redmond asked him some questions to get some insight to what he’s been up to lately. Click below to read the Chad Shackleford interview.

Jeff Bedard Chronicles – Volume 1
Posted by Prashant - 27/03/09 at 11:03:23 am
Jeff Bedard is a hard person to characterize. No matter how much I try to explain him to other people, no one story can do him justice. A few weeks ago I was in Toronto and Leland Nightingale, Jamie Lawlor, and I were trying to describe the type of person Jeff is to Leland’s roommate, and kept trading and sharing stories, each more bizarre then the next, but it still couldn’t accurately describe him. Along with being an incredibly talented and creative rider, he is one of the most interesting people I have ever met in my life, and can simultaneously make you laugh and cringe in disgust with one sentence without even trying. I asked a bunch of different people to share some Jeff stories with me, in hopes that people that don’t know him could get a glimpse in to his character. Some may be short, some may be long, but they will all surely be entertaining. Hopefully as more stories come in, I will continue with further volumes. If you have a Jeff story or photo you’d like to share, don’t hesitate to contact me. Click below to read the first installment of the Jeff Bedard Chronicles.

Bike Check – Ben Kauffman
Posted by Prashant - 12/03/09 at 10:03:57 pmThe Ben Kauffman coverage doesn’t stop. Ben recently got hooked up with Haro/Premium and they got him on two of their top end bikes with all the high end Premium parts. He sent through some photos of both his bikes. We’re still working out the paper work for his lifetime contract to ride for Capital BMX, but for now Ben will be riding for Haro/Premium, and Joe Mamma. Click below to check out the rest of the photos and a list of the parts he’s on.
