Practical Guide to Ruthlessness.
Posted by Landozine - 31/08/10 at 01:08:55 pmI’m sure many of you remember my short stint on reality TV back in 2007… no? Well I was on Rogers Cable’s “Your Screen Test” show, which was basically a competition to host your own TV show. My pitch was to make a BMX related show, and despite high levels of raditude (before weezer stole the word) I lost, and Ottawa has gone without a BMX show ever since. Now that is changing. Thanks to Treepot TV, Landozine and Skyward Kick Productions will be producing a run of episodes for our new BMX show titled “The Practical Guide to Ruthlessness”. The first few episodes are going to feature mostly Capital BMX content, but I’d like to expand eventually making it more of an Ontario wide show.

Trails Update
Posted by Landozine - 25/08/10 at 07:08:28 pmRich’s trails are one good work day away from rideable. Today Jorden, Tommy and I went out to give him a hand and shaped the starting hip as well as the first jump. I left before they were done so I’m assuming they’ll get a bit more finished today, but if we can organize a 5 or 6 man work day I’m sure this place will be rideable before September. Rich wants to do a contest this fall, so you all should get out there and help out because you know its going to be awesome!

Don’t let Rich intimidate you with his magic.

Get Ready to Get Dirty!
Posted by Landozine - 21/08/10 at 10:08:00 am
Big news on the Casselman front. Newly indoctrinated resident Rich Redmond has been hard at work the past couple of days digging some gnarly trails in his field. Ignore the bobcat in the photo, the trails were actually hand dug entirely by Rich, using only one hand.

Don’t Be An Asshole
Posted by Landozine - 11/08/10 at 10:08:58 pmAlways Rock Bar Ends.
Yesterday while riding CP, I lost one of my bar ends and before I had a chance to notice I almost lost the tip of my finger. One of the most gruesome cuts I have ever endured, that jagged metal bar opening tore me a new one. Sure, it wasn’t my nutsack… but it still sucks. 5 stitches later I’m sitting around waiting for it to heal so I can ride in Van next month. Stupid Universe, always working against me…
Box Jump News
Posted by Landozine - 11/08/10 at 08:08:29 pmI just got word from Councillor Bob Monette that an order for the box jump has been placed, and that we’re looking at a late august/early september installation date. This is some great news!

Because of the time of year, we will be competing with school playground construction so it might not happen until after labour day, but either way we should have a jump to ride this season! So hopefully Jorden wont have to do this trick over an awkward hip much longer and can take it properly to a big box jump.
“Think I can ride down that hill?” “I dunno, you think?” “Let’s see.”
Posted by G-rant - 28/07/10 at 04:07:33 pmThat was the short conversation I had with a good friend of mine early Sunday morning, before my metamorphosis from pretty boy to Frankenboy. I’ll give you a run down of the events.

Farewell Marc Boudreau

A while ago I posted about Jeff Bedard leaving town (which has finally occured after a long stay in Europe), but along with his departure also comes the departure of Marc Boudreau. He is saying goodbye to Ottawa after six years of calling it home and setting a course for Vancouver. Marc is always known for his outspoken attitude, and his willingness to lend a hand and his skills to the scene wherever needed, and he will be missed. Best of luck out west Marc.

Posted by Prashant - 26/07/10 at 12:07:50 pm* UPDATE: contest is closed – Philip O. is the winner *
Last month a number of members of the Animal team were in town on the Ten Pack Tour. While here they made a quick visit to Joe Mamma’s, rode a few spots in town, and had a BBQ before having to head back out to Quebec. They were also generous enough to send some goods through to us, and here’s your chance to win a free copy of the the new Animal Cuts DVD by answering a few Animal related questions that any die hard fan might know (or spend a little time on Youtube and Google to find the answers). Click below to read the full details.

New Stickers
Posted by Prashant - 20/07/10 at 08:07:08 amAfter running out of the previous Capital BMX stickers for a while now, I finally got around to getting some more made. No new design this time, just a re-print of our most popular, and my favourite, design: GREAZY. I also have some Yo Sick Zine stickers printed up too. Both stickers are free and available from me directly, or you can grab them at Joe Mamma while they last.
New Skyward Kicks Shoot/Website
Posted by Landozine - 12/07/10 at 11:07:01 amThis is totally un-bmx related, but I know alot of you guys enjoy horror movies and follow my film stuff anyways. I directed a pretty gnarly shoot at the quarry yesterday for my upcoming clown-horror movie. (I still haven’t come up with a title… thats always the hardest part). We managed to scare quite a few people, as nobody expected a clown to be swimming there at 10am on a Sunday…
Here are a couple of production photos.
