Orleans Box Jump in the Paper
Posted by Prashant - 05/10/10 at 08:10:35 amAt the Box Jump Jam the other week a photographer from the EMC Orleans paper came out to shoot some photos of the event, and we got most of the bikers and skaters to get a picture on top of the ramp with Orleans Councillor Bob Monette. Tommy grabbed a copy and scanned the pages for everyone to see. Click the image to see it bigger, then click below to see the second page with amazing photo journalist action sports photography.

BOX JUMP JAM/SHRED FOR THE CURE
Posted by Landozine - 26/09/10 at 05:09:28 pmYesterday was a trying day, what with intermittent rain and a box jump that just would not dry up but we managed to squeak out a contest anyways. Although we had planned to do a Beginner and an Am class of run based contests along with a box jump best trick, we only got as far as Beginner and Best Trick before the rain killed the jam.

Beginner was pretty entertaining, kids all amped to get rad. I can’t remember any of the kid’s last names unfortunately but top 3 were.
1) Revelin Labrecque
2) Patrick (??)
3) Sebastien (??)

THE BOX JUMP IS HERE!
Today will forever be remembered as the day Capital BMX won. Two years ago we approached the city with a proposal to build a new ramp for the Orleans park, and after a rollercoaster of red tape and setbacks here we are… one box jump richer.
As you can see in the photo… its pretty large. I rolled up to it the first time and was like… wow how am i going to get speed for this dropping in to a 5 foot quarterpipe… and truth be told, its tough. But crazy Steve and Josh were both blasting it pretty hard while I was there, so it is definitely a well designed ramp.
There will be a “opening ceremony jam”, so keep your eyes peeled for an announcement in the near future.
A session will take place tomorrow. Try and be there.
Flatland in the Ottawa Citizen
Posted by Prashant - 16/09/10 at 09:09:49 pmLast Saturday in the Glebe was a small flatland contest put on with the help of Joe Mamma and Red Bull. Ottawa’s Prasheel Gopal took second place, as well as a short write up in the Ottawa Citizen. Check out the article here.

Practical Guide to Ruthlessness
Posted by Landozine - 31/08/10 at 01:08:55 pmI’m sure many of you remember my short stint on reality TV back in 2007… no? Well I was on Rogers Cable’s “Your Screen Test” show, which was basically a competition to host your own TV show. My pitch was to make a BMX related show, and despite high levels of raditude (before weezer stole the word) I lost, and Ottawa has gone without a BMX show ever since. Now that is changing. Thanks to Treepot TV, Landozine and Skyward Kick Productions will be producing a run of episodes for our new BMX show titled “The Practical Guide to Ruthlessness”. The first few episodes are going to feature mostly Capital BMX content, but I’d like to expand eventually making it more of an Ontario wide show.

Trails Update
Posted by Landozine - 25/08/10 at 07:08:28 pmRich’s trails are one good work day away from rideable. Today Jorden, Tommy and I went out to give him a hand and shaped the starting hip as well as the first jump. I left before they were done so I’m assuming they’ll get a bit more finished today, but if we can organize a 5 or 6 man work day I’m sure this place will be rideable before September. Rich wants to do a contest this fall, so you all should get out there and help out because you know its going to be awesome!

Don’t let Rich intimidate you with his magic.
