Throwback Thursday: The Cockmaster Edition

For this Thursday’s throwback, I dug through some old photos (physically, not digitally) to try and give you all an idea of where the Cockmaster came from. Where he learned the cock wielding skills he now flaunts.

Pictured above is Jeff in his dad’s ruthlessly green truck back in like 2001. I believe this photo was taken outside a wal-mart. I’m not really sure what we were doing there… but I’m pretty sure he fondled a mannequin in the store…

Throwback Thursday

Its been a while since Prashant has thrown up a throw back, so I took it upon myself to give you all a hot blast of steamy nostalgia; right across the nose. This is a photo that I took a little over 4 years ago at CP, right after it was first built. I came to Ottawa from Sudbury to visit, and sample the legendary new concrete park that was built here. Rich was kind of a big deal back then, before he got old. I think he was like 28 or 29 in this picture. A spring chicken. He threw these clownside whips over the hip to the amazement of everyone present. Note the lack of graffiti….

Throwback Thursday returns with a couple older photos sent in from Rich Redmond. This week it’s a Chris Campbell edition with two great photos. Click below to check them both out.

Throwback Thursday

We’ve had a short break from Throwback Thursdays for a bit, but back with another classic. Chris Campbell stumbled upon this photo that Denver Eastman shot with a red filter some time ago. Blurry footjam endo with the thumbs up seal of approval from Campbell. Never forget to have to fun.

All smiles.

What better way to start off a new year then with reflecting on photos from past years. Here are a couple more Dave McCaig gems of Ted Bambrick boosting the old OSP mini ramp (complete with ‘foam pit’ in the background).

Throwback Thursday

In this week’s very special holiday edition of Throwback Thursday I have a great photo from Chris Campbell. He was doing some digging around at his parents house, and found this piece of history.

Rich Redmond, Ryan McCaig, Denver Eastman, and a name I forgot all posing with Colonel Sanders.

I think this was shot some time in 2004, while a convoy of us were on route to South Parc. We had rented the park out for the night, and gotten what was at the time the entire Ottawa scene (and members of the Kemptville and Hawksbury scenes) to all pitch in and come out. While driving out there we all stopped at the McDonald’s on the the way to Montreal, and saw this happy character who resembled Colonel Sanders, of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame. Immediately Chris and Ryan McCaig went up to talk to him, and Chris snapped this photo while others posed around him. I remember that night as an amazing session for everyone, watching Roland try real flips for the first time, and everyone just having a great time. Good times.

Throwback Thursday

I seem to post a lot of Denver and Dave photos, but truth of the matter is that they were the two guys who were always shooting photos. Here Denver rides the original Ottawa Sk8 Park some time in 2003-2004 (?), that very few of us got to ride. Rich used to organize the weekly session of who was to ride because it was so tight on space. I think we set a maximum of 3 people at a time. If you didn’t make it, you went on to a waiting list.

This week I have two very different throwback photos for you to enjoy.
Here Andrew Grant demonstrates a proper tobogan out of the 5 foot mini back in the early days of CP.

This week I have some classic photos from L’Orignal Skatepark that I believe were shot by Chris Campbell.

Throwback Thursday

This week I have some really great throwback material. After some pre-winter cleaning at Joe Mamma’s, I stumbled upon these great photos.

The first photo dates back to the Freuban contest held at the old Ottawa Skate Park. To all you ultra new school kids, take a look at what we used to get to ride. Many of the ramps in the photo were constructed only a night or two before the contest too. You can also notice the abundance of 26″ wheels, as this was right around the peak of the whole ‘urban mountain biking’ scene in Ottawa.
