Sudbury Trails Are Where You Need to Go.

Forget wasting your time going to Joyride. If you are planning to drive further than Montreal this summer and enjoy being in the air – consider heading west to Sudbury to sample their dirty pleasures. Thanks once again to guys like Nick Barnard and Zack Lacelle for keeping one of the best sets of trails in Ontario running smoothly.

If you don’t help dig – Zack WILL leave you hanging on high fives.

Jorden and I took the first trip of this year (of which I hope there will be many) to get our proverbial feet dirty. After spending about 2 hours filming Ryan Eles at the skatepark – he has some pretty wild lines – we finally got to the trails and had some fun.

Ryan doesn’t fuck around at all. Spine ride to suicide.

The trails this year are bigger and gnarlier than ever before. The nice thing about them is that they’re totally downhill, so you don’t need to crank at all and maintaining speed throughout is easy. That’s not to say that riding these monstrosities is easy, hell Jorden and I spent most of our time casing and swearing and blaming our old bodies.

So I cleaned out my old PC to give to Steve and I took all the old videos off of it and found this GEM. Back in like 2005 Jeff and I drove to Ottawa to ride Jose’s Freuben contest. It was one of the best contests I have ever ridden, super fun, super epic, but I ended up taking all the MTB footage and making a little joke compilation that ended up pissing off the entire MTB community in Ottawa. I remember reading the MTB Kanata boards and seeing people threatening to beat me up if I ever came back to Ottawa. (Note: I moved here the next year and nobody said nothing. Pussies) Anyhow, the video ends with Rich Redmond making his MTB debut and winning best trick or some shit with a tailwhip over the box jump (that shit was unheard of at that time). And for his BMX insolence I flipped him the bird at the end of the video, with hilarious results.

If you missed the premiere of the Barcelona video last month, you’re in luck! It has been selected to play at the ByTowne Cinema on March 29th @ 7pm as part of the Treepot Indie Filmmaker Showcase. So it wont be playing alone, you’ll get to watch some other really cool movies by local artists. This version of the video is a bit of a directors cut, I had to shave a few minutes off to fit the program, but all the good stuff remains! Come one come all!

A New Season Begins

Anyone who went outside today probably noticed the delightful t-shirt weather. I went out to Orleans to check out a snow free (yet wet) skatepark with Tommy, Jay, Nick and Steve. It was definitely nice to see the sun again, and apparently we can expect the same sort of weather all week. So it looks like an early start to BMX season this year.

After a winter of hibernation, Tommy Hains is ready to bounce around on coping once again. He was killing the park until a girl showed up and his crippling social phobias caused his muscles to lock up and eyes to bulge.

Jay has a great sense of humour.

Crazy Seve makes this look easy… but its not. I remember Jeff used to be able to do it on carpet at 206 though…

After taking advantage of the collapse of America and buying a beautiful beach home in North Carolina for next to nothing, Roland now has more fun than anyone. We miss you buddy!

For those of you who don’t know, Craig Robinson has a bike shop in Montreal now called “The Spot”. He filmed a few clips at taz a while back and Jorden Guth edited him a little commercial. It has yet to go viral but the riding is pretty gnarly. Craig is a veritable badass on his bike, always does a tonne of super original stuff. Check the video out and see for yourself.

Big thanks to everyone who came out for the video premiere on Saturday and made it such a great success. We had over 30 people out to see the video, and raised about $250 in DVD sales which will be going towards production of my upcoming short film “Gott Ist Tot“. After the premiere we all went out and had a good old game of hockey, and then headed to Taz for a rental session…
