Leland Nightingale – Top 3’s

Leland Nightingale is practically the unofficial ambassador of Toronto within BMX.  Anytime I go to Toronto, whether it’s for bike riding or not, I make sure I hit up Leland.  He’s entertained and hosted countless travelers, shared spots, shared his food, is always willing to get loose when he takes you out, and is an unapologetic bike nerd (much like myself). If you know him, you know how rad of a guy he is, and if you don’t, click below to get some insight on some of Leland’s favorite things about TO and otherwise.

Leland getting his hump on

Favorite riding spots in Toronto:

- HTO Park (Harbourfront rails) slickest most sessionable flat rails ever
- Holy Rosary is a pretty cool spot I used to ride it more.
- Lately I’ve really been enjoying going on solo night cruises along busy streets just hitting any little thing I can, then usually down Spadina through Chinatown, there’s always lots of garbage bags and fire hydrants to hop. Right before the snow hit I was getting that hop UP for 200SHINE. WATCH OUT.

Favorite food spots in Toronto:

- Laila pretty deece Falafels. Just got back from Israel (editor’s not: Grizrael) so nothing can come close to those but this place is the best in the city.
- Bellwoods has the best burgers and deals in the city, so many great memories there too, I’ve been eating vegetarian for the past few months now so next time just a side of fries for me unfortunately.
- Kayla’s (my girlfriend) house, her mom is Chinese and makes good and interesting vegetarian food.

Favorite places you’ve gone:

- NYC its just an amazing place on or off your bike.
- Utah, rugged beauty, lived under the stars in the desert for a month SLC looked great for riding too.
- Northern Ontario (except Sudbury).

Favorite pieces on your bike:

- Plastic pedals, Twisted PC’s, although I am trying PC Tenderizers for nostalgia. I always hated the feel of JC’s so Twisted PCs for life.
- Primo cranks, Hollowbites now, had powerbites forever too. I remember I bought my first pair because Rob-O used them and was fat and I was fat.
- Sunday frame. Light And strong. And as a practicing Jew I need value in every purchase so the Lifetime Guarantee is perfect.

House Guests/ Road Trips Chums:

- I LOVE JEFF BEDARD. Definitely the best road trip partner to have. Still makes me sad he missed Pat, Clucky and my NYC trip.
- The MTL dudes (Deme, Flag, Dewey) they were such a treat after some other house guests in the past. Super fun and respectful. If I had to work the next day they didn’t drag me out and we still had fun like meeting girls in latex and elbowing girls right in their teeth.
- Silva is a great on road trips too cause he keeps everybody riding.
