Camera Check: Chris Chitaroni
Posted by Prashant - 07/09/11 at 10:09:15 amCheck out a camera check I did with Chris Chitaroni over at Northern Embassy. Chris is always a very outspoken and opinionated guy, and delivers some very interesting and funny answers to questions about filming, photography, DSLR’s, and BMX.
Barcelona 2011 – No shirt, no shoes, no Jorden.
Posted by Landozine - 12/08/11 at 12:08:47 amI have been trying to get to Barcelona for several years now, however each time something came up and I ended up traveling to a different destination. Finally this spring we came to a consensus that Barcelona could not wait any longer and before we knew it 10 riders had bought their tickets. Groups of riders came from Ottawa, Sudbury and Vancouver and we all met at Centre Ramblas; a hostel right in the centre of Barcelona.

New Skatepark for Ottawa region.
Posted by Landozine - 07/08/11 at 03:08:49 pmSeveral months ago when we re-launched the Capital Riders Organization website I received an email from a Kemptville rider named Dan Williams. He asked if Capital Riders could help get a park built in Kemptville. Unfortunately there wasn’t much we could do other than offer some advice, but it seems that Dan took that advice to heart and combined with his determination was able to get the wheels rolling. According to THIS article Kemptville will be beginning construction on a skatepark later this month. The really cool thing about the project is that it is being done as part of a reality TV show. So there is some 3rd party funding being thrown in. I haven’t been able to find any details on what kind of park it is going to be, or what we can expect as far as size is concerned, but it is being built by Spectrum, who have done many many parks in Ontario so we can expect something of high quality at the very least.
If anyone has information on this park, please email me – landozine@hotmail.com as I’d like to keep Ottawa’s BMX community updated.
Daily Laugh.
Posted by Landozine - 22/07/11 at 02:07:35 pmSo today my dog pooped in one of the floor vents. Poo all the way down where my fresh air is supposed to come from. How she found the vent, I don’t know. She’s fucking blind, and stupid. But she did. And for a brief moment I was really angry, but then I realized its only 6 days until I fly to Barcelona. So as bad as my dog pooping in the floor vent was, my life isn’t half as shitty as Jorden’s right now.
Shoot Yourself Contest Results
Posted by Landozine - 18/07/11 at 03:07:41 pmThe first annual “Shoot Yourself” contest is now finished. Capital BMX would like to thank absolutely everyone who helped out and got involved, you all made this event a great success. Big thanks to Ten Pack Distribution for providing a box full of prizes, and Joe Mamma’s for not only providing prizes but also organizing the venue. Nearly 40 people showed up last night to the Clocktower Pub in Ottawa to watch the 16 entries submitted by riders across the country.

High Jump
Posted by Landozine - 14/07/11 at 03:07:18 pmFound this picture of young Ottawa local Riley Scott riding in a high jump competition at Woodward during his stay. Anyone who has ridden the woodward resi knows this is pretty impressive and probably hurt the wrists/ankles regardless of being a resi setup. Good job dude!
Capital BMX Video Challenge Awards Gala.
Posted by Landozine - 09/07/11 at 02:07:08 amThats right. Awards Gala. I’m making it fancy sounding.
The submissions are already starting to roll in. I haven’t looked at any yet, I’m going to wait until they’re all in front of me to start reviewing them. I believe that I’m going to have help from guest judge Chris Silva, and possibly someone else if I can manage to get ahold of them. Stay tuned for more on that front.
The big news is that Jose from Joe Mamma’s pulled some strings with his friends at the Clocktower Pub on Bank Street in Ottawa and they’re going to allow us to do an awards presentation/video premiere in the basement part of the bar. There have been BMX video premieres there in the past and it has always been a great time. The awards start at 7:30 PM on SUNDAY JULY 17th. If you are under age, you cannot drink obviously, but feel free to show up devoid of any ruth and get rowdy while we watch some bangers go down.
Even if you didn’t submit a video please try to show up and support the scene. Ten Pack donated alot of swag, Jose went to alot of trouble to hook up the venue and the riders have legitimately been doing things that could have killed them (Crazy Steve, I’m looking at you and your enormous gap to icepick attempts in Trenton…). So instead of sitting at home on facebook hoping that girl you like that doesn’t know you like her is going to come on and ignore you, you should come out and have a few drinks and have fun.
VIDEO CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT.
Posted by Landozine - 06/07/11 at 11:07:15 pmBy popular demand, the contest is going to be extended until the end of the weekend. So all entries must be received by Sunday July 10th at 11:59pm.
Here are the steps to submit.
1) Upload your video to Vimeo (not youtube). It only takes 5 minutes to make an account. Once you upload it, make sure that your video is downloadable as well as streamable, its in the options. That way I can download it to show at the awards ceremony.
2) Make sure your video is password protected with the password – shootyourself
3) Send an email to landozine@hotmail.com with the name of the rider and the name of the filmer/editor or whoever else was involved.
4) We will go over the videos, choose winners and announce them at an awards ceremony to be held in the next 2 weeks.
Looking forward to seeing everyone’s entries!!
Capital BMX Video Challenge Day 5
Posted by Landozine - 06/07/11 at 02:07:37 am
Andrew Grant with a turndown over the trenton bank to bank hip.
Today was day 5 of the video challenge, and a few Ottawa riders took a day trip to Trenton Ontario to try and clock some non CP footage. As per every other day of riding I’ve seen lately, things got pretty intense. I can’t explain how excited I am to see everyone’s final edits. I’m trying to work out a plan for the awards ceremony right now, probably all get together at a bar and premiere all the videos and hand out some prizes. Fun will be had by most.
