Thats what you get for leaving your ramp in the Home Depot Parking lot…

So of all the places to leave their ramp when they came to town, GT bikes left theirs in the home depot parking lot right across from 39c. I get a call last night around 10:30, right as I’m getting home, Rich is super excited about having found a giant show quarterpipe sitting perfectly under a giant light at Home Depot. Sure enough we made some calls, organized a crew and went and had ourselves a fun little session.

I hadn’t heard anything about team GT coming to town, so I’m not sure exactly where they were planning on putting on a show. Jeff tried to google it and see if he could find anything, still nothing… so wherever this show is happening its super low-key. Heck, GT is probably going to see more exposure through our riding it and posting it on here than they would from their unknown show.

Rich applied his crazy crew skills and blasted the ramp all night. Jeff managed a pretty gnarly footjam toothpick on coping and Kyle had some fun doing a 180 off the side of the ramp, rolling out around the back of it and then half cabbing back into the tranny on the other side… I’ll have a video posted of all this probably tomorrow. Jorden was by far the most exciting person to watch though. While trying bars to icepicks he ended up in some of the craziest bars to canadian tiretaps and came close to giving absolutely everyone heart attacks. All the while, every car that pulled up we expected Dave Dilleward to get out and lay the GT beatdown on us.

Its funny how things happen when you hang out in a parking lot at night. In the course of our time being there we had

-A guy show up with his girlfriend to smoke a joint in their car and watch.
-A shady dude show up to roll a joint in his car, and then on his way out ask us if we wanted to “see what was in the trailer” because he had a grinder…
-A group of girls pushing each other around in a home depot shopping cart thing, who totally dug jeff filming them.
-The cops were called on us for “putting stickers all over things” (we put love sharks/hate this stickers all over the ramp). But we just blamed the girls in the shopping cart and the cop didn’t care.
- A sketchy dude tried to sell us a digital SLR camera for pretty much the shelf price, and wouldn’t hear my bartering. I offered him 250$ to no avail…

If anyone knows where this GT demo is happening, please post up on the messageboard. I’d like to go and see some pros shred this beauty of a ramp. And if it isn’t raining tonight, the ramp is in the parking lot of the Home Depot at College Square. Go molest it.

  4. Bo Wade, a flatlander from Cali, owns the GT tour team, and has been in and out of Ottawa this summer as his girlfriend lives here. He’s looking to (safely) store the ramps in the Ottawa area for a while as he doesn’t have anything coming up I guess.

So yeah, no GT shows in Ottawa any time soon, sorry.

  5. Um how did you find this out?

Tell him to store it in front of my house. I’ll get a parking pass for it and we can set it up every night. Otherwise I am towing that thing away to the trails!
