That's my Haro in those pool shots; they never even asked to borrow it.

I liked the angles of that model a lot better than the "redesign" of the '90s... not quite sure what I didn't like about the newer one.

We also stickered our bikes like crazy (some things never change), rode in the tunnels at Carleton University, rewound and rewatched video taped copies of the Mountain Dew commercial in a low-tech version of "Youtube" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLDuyCX_jSo still gives me chills) and California was like some kind of mythical enchanted country to us.

I sold that bike a number of years ago to a kid for $300 and I've regretted it ever since.

This was so cool. You ever wish a certain era would come back so you could experience it? Seems like an awesome time!

Bizarre. What a flood of memories these pics bring back. I also remember how the freakin pegs were everywhere on the bike. 2 sets on the forks, extra rails on the chain stays with axle pegs as well. I even skated Kona once in 1987. It was pretty intimidating.
Boardwalk? I once skipped school and took the bus (1.5 hrs) all the way to that shop to buy a new skate deck and then booked it home before my folks found out!
I took a bunch of crappy pics when Tony Hawk visited in 1986. I wonder if this guy Frank was one of the guys hitting up the launch ramp at the show? I still have my Quiksilver jacket signed by Hawk himself.
Crap I'm old.
